Eoin Montgomery Borders of Atlanta, aged 4 months, passed Friday, December 4, 2015 at Egleston Children’s Hospital.
He was born on July 28, 2015 at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta to parents, Scott Borders and Lori Montgomery.
Eoin – Irish, meaning “God’s gift” – was born with the genetic condition Trisomy 18. Despite his condition, he challenged everyone’s expectations for his life. He bravely fought the odds and challenged what people believe is possible for his diagnosis.
While he spent his entire life in the hospital, he influenced so many beyond the hospital walls. Eoin’s major accomplishment in this world is that he stirred the hearts of people (his parents included) towards their Maker and helped them focus on what truly is important in this short life.
In addition to his parents, surviving family members include: grandparents: Michael & Donna Borders (Fayetteville, Ga.) and William & Jackie Montgomery (Savannah, Ga.); uncles & aunts: Brent & Julie Borders, Adam & Niki Davis, Monty Montgomery and Donald Montgomery; first cousins: Meara Montgomery, Cole Borders and Drew Davis; and a large extended family.
The parents want to thank every dedicated NICU nurse, therapist and doctor at both Piedmont Atlanta & Egleston hospitals for lovingly honoring Eoin.
The funeral was held Tuesday, December 8 at 11 a.m. at Lisbon Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The family received friends following burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, or Trisomy18 Foundation, trisomy18.org.
