City officials in Fayetteville have proclaimed Nov. 2 as Color The World Orange Day in an effort to bring attention to complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).
Also known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), it is a nerve disorder that causes chronic pain. It was first identified during the Civil War but remains a poorly-understood condition and as of today there is no cure, according to the proclamation.
Fayetteville Mayor Greg Clifton presented the Oct. 15 proclamation to CRPS advocate Shamika Jones.
