Servant Weekend, an annual event at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City, is scheduled for Oct. 23-24. Everyone is invited to take advantage of these events at the church:
Friday, Oct. 23:
• American Red Cross Blood Drive from 2:30-7:30 p.m. Sign up to donate at redcrossblood.org.
• Flu Shots from 2:30-7:30 p.m. administered by Walgreen’s. The cost is $26 with Medicare and other insurance accepted. Minimum age: 13.
• “Baked with Love” Bake Sale from 1 – 7:30 p.m., also Saturday, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. All proceeds support the Summer Lunch Program for children and Joshua’s Gift, a school-year weekend food program.
Saturday, Oct. 24:
• Fire Safety Training for children and their parents from 8:30 a.m. – noon. Peachtree City fire fighters’ Safety Training Bus will be at the church.
• Give and Take Free Market from 9 a.m. – noon. All items will be free. Items include child and adult clothing, furniture, small electronics, tools, shoes, books, etc. Donations of gently used and working items accepted only on Saturday from 7 – 10 a.m.
• Certified Document Shredding from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Church Groups will also clean, mulch, and make repairs at The Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville; participate in Singing with Seniors, inviting residents at Arbor Terrace on Saturday at 3 p.m.; participate in writing hand-delivered letters of gratitude and hope to patients in VA hospitals; organize donations intended for foster children at The Bloom Closet in Fayetteville.
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, children of the church will go Trick-or-Treating at Heritage of Peachtree and provide treats to the residents.
