Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will commission two new Stephen Ministers on Aug. 2.
Shelly Jones will be commissioned at the 8:30 a.m. service, and Mary Jeffrey at the 11 a.m. service. The two were trained in cooperation with Dogwood Church.
After an initial screening interview, they completed 50 hours of training, and have made a commitment to serve two years. They will meet weekly one-on-one with a person who is experiencing a crisis, offering a caring heart and a perceptive ear, all with the assurance of absolute confidentiality. Twice a month they will gather with other Stephen Ministers at COS to expand and deepen their knowledge and to support one another in their ministry.
Christ Our Shepherd has offered Stephen Ministry for over 25 years. It is an active member of the Southern Crescent Network of Stephen Ministry congregations.
