Charles F. Lear passed away July 22, 2015 in Peachtree City, Ga.
Upon graduating from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio, Charles joined the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He then worked for the U.S. Department of Defense until his retirement in 1993. Chuck was an avid reader of history and a world-wide traveler who, during the course of his career and later during retirement, visited more than 80 countries. He enjoyed skiing and was president of the American Ski Clubs in Europe during the 1960’s. He loved volksmarching and was president of the McIntosh Trail Walkers in Peachtree City where he lived for 24 years. As a pilot and member of the Dayton Aero Club, Chuck gave many of his relatives and friends their first airplane ride.
Charles is survived by his wife Luella Blechschmidt Lear of Peachtree City; son Craig and wife Stephanie Lear of St. Joseph, Mich.; daughter Kristin and husband Michael Wright of Columbia, Md.; grandchildren Braeden, Maggie Louise, and Kellen Lear of St. Joseph, Mich.; and Victoria, Katherine, Kiernan and Ronan Wright of Columbia, Md.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the East Amana, Iowa cemetery.
