The need for debris clean-up from recent storms led to a $30,000 budget amendment approved by unanimous vote at the July 16 meeting of the Peachtree City Council.

The $30,000 amendment request from the general fund reserve relates to an increase to the public works department for contractual services in the wake of recent storm damage, said interim City Manager Jon Rorie.

Finance Director Paul Salvatore said there are currently more than 100 work orders in process throughout the city for the removal of downed trees and branches.

Salvatore said staff previously reallocated $10,000 from the street maintenance program to deal with tree and debris removal, but more funding is needed since storm activity continues to move through the area.
