The American Red Cross recognized its outstanding volunteers and community partners for 2014-2015 at the Delta Flight Museum July 16. Those selected for local recognition were nominated by their volunteer peers for outstanding contributions to the Red Cross mission in 22 categories.
Matt Bozone of Peachtree City received the Blood Services Volunteer Award, which is presented to the Red Cross volunteer who has volunteered for at least one year and made an outstanding contribution to Blood Services and the community.
A Blood Services volunteer translator, Bozone has provided leads for outreach to help with Red Cross recruitment efforts. He has also translated messages on the radio to recruit interpreter volunteers and educate listeners about the importance of donating blood. Always striving for perfection, Bozone also provides constructive feedback after each blood drive to help make improvements.
Volunteers constitute about 90 percent of the American Red Cross workforce, fulfilling many roles from coordinating blood drives, to responding to home fires, serving as board members and much more. The Atlanta Red Cross annual volunteer recognition serves as both the culmination of its fiscal year and the opportunity to highlight and thank its many dedicated, selfless, and compassionate volunteers.
