The Fayette County Education Foundation has raised more than $15,000 from July to May, making this school year the most successful in donation collections since the organization was formed in 2002.
“We appreciate all of the financial support we have received this year. These donations will be used to support teacher grants that are focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education in classrooms throughout the school system for the 2015-2016 school year,” said Melinda Berry-Dreisbach, the foundation’s treasurer.
“Thanks to a successful fundraising year, we have enough funds to offer teacher grants after having tabled them for the last two years so that we could support other needs during recent budget cuts.”
As the 2014-2015 school year comes to a close, the Fayette County Education Foundation is thankful for the financial support it has received from individuals and businesses throughout the county.
The Foundation would like to extend its greatest appreciation to the employees of the Fayette County Public School System for their generosity of gifts made through monthly payroll deduction, and the school system’s annual United Way campaign. So far this year, school system employees have donated over $5,000 to benefit public education in Fayette County.
The Foundation is also appreciative of the 32 employees who have collectively donated over $1,600 per year since 2009. They are Malia Bergsrom; Calisse Black; Christine Brand; Yolanda Briggs-Johnson; Nancy Close, Carrie Collins; Kristi Davis; David Edinger; Jodie Fleming; Ramona Gillette; Cindy Hartpence; Cynthia Hill; Randy Hudson; Thomas Illingworth; Michael Kirkland; Connie Knowles; Melissa Langlois; Thomas Lewis; Peggy O’Farrell; Jeff Patterson; Rae Presley-King; Everett Rhodes; Sharme Ridley; Phillip Rogers; John Russom; and Debra Sanders.
Additionally, local businesses have supported the Foundation with their direct gifts. These businesses include Fayette County Retired Educators Association; Coweta-Fayette EMC; Autera Health Center; Windgard Urgent Care and Wellness; Rogers, Hofrichter & Karrh, LLC; Manley, Spangler, Smith Architects; Georgia Power; Fresh Market; Pinewood Studios; and Truett’s Luau.
Likewise, community members have supported the Foundation this year by participating in a spirit day at Truett’s Luau in August, making donations at the Foundation’s booth during the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce’s Community Expo in September, purchasing tickets to the Pinewood Studio’s annual charity gala in January, and buying Belk Charity Sale tickets for both the fall and spring event, as well as through private gifts.
All totaled, local businesses and community members have given more than $10,000 to date.
