For its 10th anniversary of the Peachtree City 5K, Wellspring Living is creating a twist to its traditional 5K.
The organization will host Miles for ONE Saturday, June 20, at 8:30 a.m. at The Bridge Community Center in Peachtree City. Miles for ONE invites inline/derby skaters, cyclists and long boarders to register for a “group ride” event or a timed 5-kilometer run/walk. The cyclists and skaters will have a non-race, group ride on the moderately flat and curvy 10-kilometer loop.
Water and snacks will be provided along the loop. The 5K run/walk will be a timed event started with intervals of 1-3 minutes to accommodate the groups.
Wellspring Living has a vibrant history of engaging communities in the issues of sexual exploitation. During previous 5k races, the organization has attracted more than 3,500 cumulative runners and volunteers, raising more than $250,000 to support women and girls who have been sexually exploited.
“We are delighted to host such an important and exciting event in Atlanta, a city that is known to be one of the worst cities for sex trafficking,” said founder Mary Frances Bowley. “We aim to have fun at this event, as well as inspire the community of Atlanta that there is hope.”
