A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive in Peachtree City June 7 for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve Gold Standard re-accreditation, according to city officials.
The assessors will examine all aspects of the Peachtree City Police Department and will focus on areas such as policies and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. Verification is made by this team that the Peachtree City Police Department meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards (5th Edition) as part of a voluntary process to gain re-accreditation.
As part of the on-site assessment, the public and agency employees are invited to offer comments on the agency’s services and performance at a public information session Monday, June 8, at 6 p.m. This session will be conducted in the Peachtree City Council Chambers, 151 Willowbend Road.
If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone. The public may call 770-632-4100 June 8 from 1-3 p.m.
Telephone comments, as well as comments made at the public information session, are limited to five minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. A copy of these standards is available at the Peachtree City Police Department, 350 S. Hwy 74, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. sa well as on the department’s website.
