The Peachtree City Airport Authority is considering adding two hangars on airport property at Falcon Field. The last hangar constructed by the airport was in 1996.

Authority members after the May 14 discussion decided to have airport manager Hope Macaluso return at the next meeting with a cost breakdown of all initial costs before deciding on a course of action.

Those expenses would include the design cost, of which the approximate cost of $26,000 and is 90 percent reimbursable, along with survey work and geotechnical work.

Chairman Bill Flynn said the authority would like to see an estimate of all costs before moving forward with the proposal.

One of the proposed hangars would have eight units at 1,760 sq. ft. each while the second hangar would have four units, also at 1,760 sq. ft.

Macaluso told authority members that the proposed hangars would not be of a size to accommodate corporate jets.

She said sprinklers would not be needed since the units would be separated by three-hour firewalls.

Macaluso said the airport has people with hangars sharing space while other aircraft are tied-down outside. There has also been a waiting list for quite some time, she added.

“There is plenty of outside space for tie-downs but many people want hangar space,” Macaluso said.

If approved, the new hangars would replace 28 tie-down spaces, though other tie-down spaces would remain available, Macaluso said.

The last hangar built by the airport was constructed in 1996. The last private hangar constructed at the airport was in 2003, Macaluso said.
