A Jonesboro man was arrested March 11 in connection with a copper theft at a new subdivision in east Fayette County.

Theodore Carter, 30, was charged with two counts of burglary, according to Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said deputies responded to an alarm call on the 300 block of Rocky Fork Boulevard where several homes are under construction.

Deputies found that copper wire and pipe had been cut from the interior and exterior of the homes, Babb said, adding that a large pile of copper wire and pipe was found behind two of the homes.

Babb said deputies also located an unlocked U-Haul van with evidence inside that led to investigators contacting Carter at his home in Jonesboro.

Carter was subsequently arrested after investigators found physical evidence at his residence, said Babb.
