About a year ago I started to be extremely bothered by the noises coming from the wastewater plant in Fayetteville. It was at that time that I became acquainted with Mr. Chris Hindman, the director of public works, and Mr. Doug Gonsalves, the supervisor of the water plant. Wow! The city of Fayetteville has two employees to be proud of.

Before it was determined exactly what the problem was, I, was calling and emailing Mr. Hindman and Mr. Gonsalves repeatedly, asking for more testing, asking questions about the plant, and reporting more noises.

Even though they personally were not bothered by the noises, they were forever patient, professional, and kind in reply to my emails. They even came to my home on several occasions to investigate.

They took the initiative to have a sound engineer hired, and when he found the problem, they compiled a proposal of suggested repairs to the city council which resulted in the council voting to fix the noise problem.

It’s great to live in a town with public servants like Mr. Hindman and Mr. Gonsalves. Hats off to these two gentleman for a job well done.
