Former longtime resident of Peachtree City, Stephen C. Schmidt, 61, died suddenly Sept. 12 in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Schmidt worked for Bells Markets, General Foods, and Saputo Dairy Foods during a long successful career in food sales.
A great lover of music and sports, Mr. Schmidt was actively involved in his children’s activities, including acting as coach for his son’s baseball and his daughter’s soccer teams. He played guitar and loved to sing harmony in his eclectic band, The Wobbly Cowboys.
Mr. Schmidt is survived by his wife, Anita (now of Dallas, Texas), their children, E. Carl B. Schmidt and Elizabeth J. B. Schmidt, now of Athens, Ga., and his mother Lorraine Schmidt of Fayetteville, N.Y. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters (of N.Y. and Pa.), and several nieces and a nephew.
He was pre-deceased by his father, Richard Schmidt.
Family and close friends will gather to celebrate his life on Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Fayetteville, N.Y.
