Georgia students and their families are invited to come to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City for a day of activities and learning Saturday. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students will be able to tour the facility and learn weather concepts at various stations including various types of clouds and weather, severe weather preparedness and safety, public and aviation forecasting, river flood and flashing flooding, types of warnings and how they are issued, and the best ways to stay informed and get the warnings.
This event will feature partners from the Southeast River Forecast Center (SERFC), the Air Route Traffic Control Center’s Center Weather Service Unit (CWSU), Fayette County Emergency Management Office, HAM Radio, and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. Students across north and central Georgia are encouraged to come meet the professionals that work around the clock, 365 days a year to provide important forecasts and warnings for all of north and central Georgia. This event is targeting elementary and middle school students, but all students are welcome.
