The Peachtree City International Festival and Rotary Dragon Boat Races will celebrate its seventh year September 27. The festivities will be held at a new location this year. The boats will be racing at Peachtree City’s Lake McIntosh, located at the end of TDK Boulevard.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend this family-friendly event. All proceeds from the races will benefit the local Breast Cancer Survivors’ Network.
The race has grown from a handful of teams and a few spectators to a signature Peachtree City event that continues to grow year after year.
This year, 34 teams will take to the deep waters of Lake McIntosh with aspirations of earning awards and bragging rights.
The boats seat 10 participants and a drummer who helps to keep paddlers in sync.
Race fans and festival-goers alike can explore culture, food, art and entertainment at the International Festival.
Over 35 artisans will be present with items such as jewelry, gifts and clothing. Come and sample food from all over the world, including Asia, India, China, Philippines and America.
The festival will also include a variety of entertainment throughout the day on the main stage.
Opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m,, followed by performances from the Peachtree Wind Ensemble, Okinawan Dance Group, Taiko Drums, The Legacy Theatre, American Black Belt Academy, Omni International School, a traditional Chinese Dragon Dance and Lion Dance, Piccadilly Puppets, My Reptile Guys, The Kelly Porter Dance Academy and Rachel’s School of Dance.
The Kids Korner will feature arts and crafts, inflatables, human water balls and a balloon artist.
