The newly formed Cultural Ambassadors group at Peeples Elementary completed its first service project that will bring fresh fruit to community residents who cannot afford to purchase it.

About 50 students and their parents descended on the Harvest for Real Life Fruit Orchard the evening of September 16 and picked approximately 124 pounds of grapes in 30 minutes. The three-acre orchard in Tyrone grows and gives away around 30,000 pounds of fresh fruit to clients of the Real Life Center every year.

The Peeples Cultural Ambassadors group was implemented this school year thanks to a grant from the One Region Atlanta Ideas Challenge, a competition that awards grants to organizations and programs for ideas that will help bridge cultures and faiths in their communities.

This service project is first of many that the group will complete throughout the year.
