The annexation of 36 acres along Ga. Highway 16 on Senoia’s west side was met with no objection by the Coweta County Commission at the Sept. 4 meeting.
The initial request to annex 35.65 acres located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Morgan Road and Old Highway 85 came from developer J.P. Allen Homes and was approved by the Senoia City Council in early August.
The property is situated just south of Ga. Highway 16 and is in close proximity to the Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia. The Morgan Farms development carries an R-40 zoning which would provide half-acre lots.
The concept plan calls for 32 lots and the installation of two proposed streets. Plans call for homes with a minimum of 2,000 square feet. The unanimous vote by the council meant the request would be forwarded to the Coweta County Commission for a vote.
The Sept. 4 vote was unanimous. City Manager Richard Ferry in August said that, if approved, he expected the developer would proceed with the project as soon as possible. The city can provide water to the subdivision, but it will be an expense to the developer, Ferry said. The Morgan Farms property is less than 1,000 feet from the Coweta Charter Academy. Currently serving grades K-7, the school sits at the top of state rankings for student academic growth.
