Piedmont Fayette Hospital and Piedmont Newnan Hospital are giving community members two opportunities to walk and talk with a physician this month. Piedmont Fayette Hospital will hold its Walk With a Doc Sept. 20 at Drake Field at City Hall in Peachtree City. Piedmont Newnan Hospital will hold its Walk With a Doc Sept. 27 at Carl Miller Park, 70 Sewell Rd. in Newnan.
The walks start promptly at 8:30 a.m. so participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:15 a.m. At each walk, doctors will take five minutes to talk about a health topic of their choice before leading walkers on a 30 to 40-minute walk. Participants can ask the physicians questions along the way.
Two physicians will jointly lead the Piedmont Fayette walk on Sept. 20: Kristie Dyson, M.D. and Cynthia Nater, M.D. Drs. Dyson and Nater are members of Southern Crescent Women’s Healthcare. Dr. Dyson has a patient-centered philosophy that focuses on the individual person’s overall health. She performs minimally-invasive surgery, including the da Vinci Robot. Dr. Nater is fluent in Spanish and offers innovative procedures such as Essure in-office tubal ligation procedure and da Vinci Hysterectomy.
On Sept. 27, Maria Goyco, M.D. of Piedmont Physicians Group in Newnan will lead the Piedmont Newnan Hospital walk. Dr. Goyco, who speaks Spanish and English, has been in practice for 15 years in the Metro Atlanta area. She is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. She has a special interest in preventative medicine and women’s care.
At each walk, participants will receive a pedometer to help them keep track of the number of steps taken, as well as a free T-shirt. While the event is free, registration is required by calling 877-527-3712 or visiting piedmont.org/walkwithadoc.
