A Fayetteville man was arrested May 8 on charges of child molestation and aggravated assault in connection to three incidents involving two girls between 2007 and 2011. Fayetteville Police were made aware of the assaults after one of the girls recently contacted a school resource officer.
Shawn Boykin, 22, of Jasmine Court, was charged with three counts of child molestation and two counts of aggravated assault, according to Det. Scott Israel.
Israel said Boykin at the time of the assaults was living at his mother’s Jasmine Court residence, adding that it was at that location where the assaults occurred.
The molestations occurred in January 2007, January 2008 and May 2011, according to arrest records. Both the girls who were molested by Boykin were temporarily living at the residence, said Israel.
All three charges of child molestation involved forced sexual intercourse with no physical injury, said Israel.
Israel said one of the girls was molested on two occasions. The first time was when she was five years old and the second molestation occurred when she was 12 years old, Israel said.
The second victim was molested when she was 12 years of age, said Israel.
The incidents came to light recently when one of the victim’s reached out to a school resource officer, Israel said.
Israel said Boykin was also charged with a similar offense in 2010, though the case has not gone to trial. The case involved a 12-year-old female runaway, said Israel.
