Margaret Elizabeth Walden Williams, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away January 12, 2014.
She began working for Sears at the Ponce de Leon location in 1940. She continued her career with Sears working at the West End location and later retiring as division manager from the Southlake location. Mrs. Williams was a lifetime active member of College Park 2nd Baptist Church (also known as McDonough Road Baptist Church) in Fayetteville. She served as a Sunday school teacher, director of WMU, and nursery coordinator, as well as many committees. She loved the church and attended faithfully up to the end.
Quilting was her passion. She quilted by hand over 120 quilts, some of which are hanging in the churches. She hosted quilting parties to encourage others to continue the craft.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years A.U. Williams and son Donald Williams and 5 siblings. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Lukavsky and Brenda (Ken) Morris, both of Fayetteville; 4 grandchildren Scott (Susan) Lukavsky, Mike (Kim) Lukavsky, Eric (Kari) Crisp, and Amanda (Chuck) Ferrell; 6 great-grandchildren Rachel, Daniel, Claire, Marissa, Ethan and Eli; sisters Doris (Sam) Orr and Ruby Mann; brother Paul Walden; and many nieces & nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at McDonough Road Baptist Church, Fayetteville. Dr. David Chancey and Dr. David Smith will officiate. A burial will follow at College Park Cemetery, College Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
