Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Thompson of Fayetteville, Ga., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Whitney Lynn Thompson, to Adam James Shoemaker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Shoemaker of Peachtree City, Ga.
Whitney is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Jenkins of Forest Park, Ga., Ms. Jesse Stearns of Rex, Ga., and Mr. I.M. Thompson of Inverness, Fla.
Adam is the grandson of Mrs. Louise Shoemaker and the late Mr. James Shoemaker of Calumet City, Ill., and Mrs. Joan Stuart and the late Dr. Edward Stuart of Gainesville, Fla.
Whitney is a 2002 graduate of Fayette County High School. She attended Lagrange College where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English in 2006 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2007. She also holds a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. Currently, she is an English teacher at Starr’s Mill High School.
Adam is a 2002 graduate of McIntosh High School. He attended University of Georgia where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management and Insurance in 2006, and he attended Indiana University – Bloomington School of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2009. He is currently enrolled in Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business where he is pursuing a Masters in Business Administration. Adam owns his own law firm and practices in Fayetteville, Ga.
The wedding and reception will be held at the Wimbish House in Downtown Atlanta on February 15, 2014. The Honorable Jason B. Thompson, the bride’s brother, will conduct the ceremony.
The couple will honeymoon in Disney World and then reside in Peachtree City.
