The Fayette County Republican Party is about to have a new home after being housed for years on the courthouse square in downtown Fayetteville. The new headquarters is located a few blocks to the north in the retail center at North Glynn Street and Lafayette Avenue.
Chairman Scott Fabricius said the executive board began looking for a new location early in the year due to expected growth in membership.
“The party is energized and membership has been on the rise,” Fabricius said. “There’s new excitement and a new enthusiasm.”
The longtime headquarters totaling approximately 750 square feet, of which a significant portion was dedicated to storage, gave way to the new location that totals approximately 2,500 square feet. Most of that space includes an event center totaling 1,730 square feet, three restrooms and a kitchen.
The idea behind the event center is to be able to have rental space available for a variety of community events, Fabricius said.
The new headquarters will also provide a venue for the party’s special events and for the monthly meetings previously held at the IHOP restaurant.
“We’re real excited about the new location,” Fabricius said. “It’s a way for people to get together and hear great speakers.”
The first meeting at the new location will be the monthly meeting held this Saturday, Dec. 7, at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will also include a buffet breakfast, said second vice-chair of administration Leslie Edwards.
The official grand opening and open house will be on Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
The new offices of the Fayette County Republican Party are located at 174 North Glynn Street.
