SWIMMING

LANDMARK competed Nov. 19 in North Atlanta in a meet that included Grady, Maynard T. Jackson Booker T. Washington high schools. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams placed third overall, and Ty Janyaem was second in the 100 breaststroke.

BOYS BASKETBALL

McINTOSH Defeated Mt. Zion 71-61 Friday night behind Jordan Lyons’ 21 points and four assists. Will Washington and Dishon Lowery added 17 points apiece, and Lowery pulled down 14 rebounds. In a 72-54 win over Jordan of Columbus, Lyons scored 20 of his game-high 32 points in the first half and shot 12-of-15 form the floor. Washington scored 14.

LANDMARK defeated Northgate 87-79 in its season opener. Graham Burson led the team with 21 points, and Collier Schultz, Jackson Schultz and Jack Patterson scored double figures. The War Eagles downed SACA 94-92 behind Jackson Schultz’s 26 points, then moved to 3-0 on the season with an 87-75 win Monday over Our Lady of Mercy.

FAYETTE COUNTY won its season open 68-53 over Northside-Columbus. It was head coach Andre Flynn’s 300th win. Dant Sterling scored 26, C.J. Johnson added 17 and Chaz Berry chipped in 14.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

FAYETTE COUNTY won three straight games in the Hilton Tip-Off Classic at Norcross High School. The Lady Tigers defeated Salem (49-47), Lovett (49-17) and Pike County (56-46). Kayla Smith scored 56 points for week, followed by Asia Harper (32), Aaliyah Davis (23), Nayla Battle (17), Latia Styles (13), Kennedy Brooks (6) and Christa Jones (5).

WHITEWATER defeated Ola 56-49 in a game Nov. 19. Jade Coggins scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while Jordan Barnett added 12 points. Kaelyn Dugger had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

LANDMARK lost 50-48 to Mt. Pisgah Nov. 19. Joy Stucker, Jillian Price and Diamond Smith scored 11 points apiece. Leah Harrison had 7 points and was 2-of-2 from the 3-point line. The Lady War Eagles won 62-61 Monday over Our Lady of Mercy, as Stucker scored 24 points while Smith had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Price and Abby Johns scored 9 points apiece.

STARR’S MILL won three games last week, led by Katie Wilson and Danielle Garcia. Two were region wins over Mundy’s Mill (61-19) and Old (49-18), and the other was against Brookwood (51-45).

McINTOSH lost 52-47 to Mt. Zion Friday. “It just didn’t end our way,” said head coach Alex Mull. “We need to do a better job of rebounding the ball as a unit but I feel everything else is starting to click.”

WRESTLING

WHITEWATER outscored its opponents a combined 158-55 in last Wednesday’s home dual meet, with five pins in each match, defeating Newnan, North Paulding and Pike County. Going undefeated with 3 wins were Logan Wesolowski (132), Zach Thorne (138), Joseph Vanmeter (152), Alex Walker (170), Barrett Martin (182), and Gary Hogg (195). Wrestlers with 2 wins on the night included Reid Loveless (113), Juan Harvey (120), Daniel McCullough (145), and Josiah Webb (152). Greg Pasquarella, Sal Padovano and Will Bishop picked up their first varsity wins and pins on the night.
