Kohl’s assailant gets 17 years for mugging woman

A Jonesboro man pled guilty in court last week to attacking and robbing a woman at the Kohl’s Department Store at the Fayette Pavilion April 27 and later using her credit cards that were in the purse he stole from her.

Zaquaus Troyon Stubbs, 20, was sentenced by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Tommy R. Hankinson to 17 years in prison followed by five years on probation.

Prosecutors had planned to present evidence that the crime was gang-related, according to court documents.

There was also video evidence of Stubbs using the credit cards at stores, including one that was used 12 minutes after the incident, said Assistant District Attorney Ben Thomsen. “The evidence was just so overwhelming,” Thomsen said.

Stubbs’ plea was to one count of robbery by force and five counts of financial identity fraud, all felonies, and one misdemeanor count of battery.
