Deacon I. Carl McBride, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away August 15, 2013.

He served his country in the US Merchant Marines in World War II. He was an ordained Deacon with the Catholic Church for 30 years and a founding member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11458. He was also one of the founders of SPRED (special religious education in Chicago).

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary McBride; sons Carl McBride and Stephen (Catherine) McBride; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and Sister Joan Prost.

A funeral mass was held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Fayetteville with Fr. Michael McWhorter officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 152 Antioch Road, Fayetteville, Ga. 30215.
