Three McIntosh students — senior Thomas Gottilla and juniors Maria Furukawa and Tarna Zander-Velloso — participated in the UGA Young Scholars Internship Program for six weeks this summer. Each student worked on a research project mentored by a professor and assistants in an agricultural or environmental science field and had to present their projects at the end of the six-week program. The students had to go through a competitive application process which included essay questions, two teacher recommendations, and an interview. Thomas worked at UGA Athens, while Maria and Tarna worked at UGA Griffin. Photo/Special.
