With rain expected for Thursday, Peachtree City officials have decided to keep the July 4 parade on track regardless of rain or shine. But those making plans for the fireworks show will need to be a bit more flexible.
According to a recently issued press release, “City staff will be monitoring local forecasts closely beginning Wednesday, July 3, and if necessary, may postpone the fireworks by Wednesday afternoon. If postponed, the fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 6. If the decision is made to have the fireworks on the night of the 4th, the fireworks show time may be adjusted to take advantage of the best window in the weather. Fireworks could begin as early as 9:00 p.m., or as late as 10:00 p.m. for the display that will last approximately 20 minutes.”
Residents are asked to check the city’s main web page at www.peachtree-city.org for weather and scheduling updates as the 4th approaches. Updates will be posted up to and including the 4th if necessary.
The annual Public Safety Expo, also a part of the city’s July 4 extravaganza, may also be cancelled if the fireworks need to be postponed, city officials said.
