The community is invited to join Fayette Senior Services June 21 from 3 p.m.to 5 p.m. for the grand opening and a tour of McIntosh Place, a new facility for senior enrichment at 191 McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City. McIntosh Place will host classes and activities for Fayette County seniors.
Chris Mallon, chairman of the FSS Board of Directors, and Vanessa Fleisch, Peachtree City Councilwoman, will be among those who will speak briefly during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The opening of the new facility represents a continuing partnership between Peachtree City and Fayette Senior Services, a non-profit, non-governmental agency which promotes healthy aging through high-quality, effective programming in the areas of nutrition, recreation, physical activity, education, and socialization.
The two groups entered a management agreement in January, 2012 for FSS to provide classes and activities for seniors at the Gathering Place at 203 McIntosh Trail.
The agreement was expanded to include McIntosh Place, which is in the same McIntosh Trail Recreation Complex as a large picnic pavilion, walking trails, and the Peachtree City Dog Park.
The complex is also the starting point for the Flat Creek Nature Preserve and is the home of the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater.
The newly renovated facility formerly housed the Peachtree City Recreation Department administrative offices.
FSS currently manages the service and delivery of essential social services for seniors on behalf of local government, including Meals On Wheels, transportation, in-home personal care and homemaker services, care management, safety-related home repair services, and more.
