Second Chance Thrift Shop in Brooks will celebrate its fourth birthday June 20-22 with special sales and much more.

Begun as an outreach of Brooks United Methodist Church in 2009, the shop is staffed entirely by volunteers and assists families with limited incomes. Nearly 100 percent of the profits are shared between local, national, and international missions, and the church.

Second Chance has made donations to local groups such as Fayette Samaritans, Fayette Senior Services, Five Loaves and Two Fish Food Pantry, and Fayette Department of Family and Children Services, along with many other national and international charities like Heifer International, UMCOR, and Red Cross.

On Thursday, June 20, all kitchen items will be half off, and Friday, June 21, all clothes and shoes will be half off. On Saturday, June 22, everything in the store will be half off.

Additionally, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 a raffle will be held for a Treasured Heirloom Collection “Crystal Rose” doll (need not be present to win). Tickets are on sale now at the shop for $1 each or 12 for $10.

Free refreshments and outside vendors complete the celebration.

Located at 151 McIntosh Rd. in Brooks, the shop is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Donations are received during business hours and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays.
