Richard Joseph (Dick) Seebeck, 86, of Peachtree City, died May 22, 2013 at home after a long battle with COPD.
He was born September 5, 1926 in Long Island, N.Y., where he met and married his wife Brita Evelyn Breitz on March 29, 1947.
He served in the US Navy, Pacific Theater in WW II. Following his military service, he worked for Grumman Aircraft in New York, then joined National Cash Register as a service technician in 1946. He retired from NCR, Peachtree City in 1989. He was an avid fisherman after he retired.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Brita E. Seebeck; sons Edward (Ruth) of Warren, Pa., Robert (Susan) of Dacula, Ga., and Brian (Kathy) of Richmond, Va., grandchildren Niels (Janine) Seebeck, Jennifer (Michael) Miller, Allyson and Katherine Blake, and two great grandchildren, Sawyer and Warrick Seebeck; a sister, Jean Seebeck DiGiglio of Bullhead City Ariz., sister-in-law Mady Seebeck of Rockville Center, N.Y.; niece Lynne (Sam) DiGiglio Khasim, of Bullhead City, Ariz., and a nephew, Steven (Karlene) DiGiglio of Oneonta, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. and Helen W. Seebeck, and a brother, Edward N. Seebeck, and brother-in-law Joseph DiGiglio.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the family residence. Dr. David Davis of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church will conduct a brief service beginning at 5 p.m. Reception immediately follows at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of choice.
Arrangements were handled by Higgins Hillcrest Chapel in Newnan.
