Retired U.S. Army Chaplain Col. Bernard L. Windmiller will be the featured speaker on Sunday, May 26 at Peachtree City United Methodist Church during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services in honor of the Memorial Day holiday. Windmiller is the father of the Rev. Keith Windmiller, associate pastor at Peachtree City United Methodist Church.
Memorial Day is a time to reflect and remember those who gave their lives for their country.
Windmiller served in the U.S. Army for 30 years. He served in the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star and Air Medal for his heroic conduct in combat. He was also awarded the Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters three times. He served as the commandant of the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School and as the chaplain for both Fort Hood and III Corps.
Since retiring from the Army, Windmiller has served as the interim pastor at several churches in northern Illinois. He also has served as the executive director of the International Association of Evangelical Chaplains. He now resides in Princeton, Ill. with his wife Esther.
