A Peachtree City man was arrested April 8 on charges of sexual battery after he struck and grabbed a female jogger on her buttocks as he drove past her in a golf cart.

Sean McClenahan, 19, was placed under arrest and charged with sexual battery, according to Peachtree City Police spokesman Lt. Mark Brown.

Brown said the incident occurred at approximately 12 p.m. Officers were sent to the area of Kedron Village near the Ardenlee subdivision on a reported sexual assault on the multi-use path system. The woman said she was running on the paved path when she was struck and grabbed on her buttocks by a male driving a golf cart, Brown said. The woman did not require medical treatment, said Brown.

The victim was able to obtain a good physical description of the suspect and the description of the golf cart. Brown said multiple officers were on the scene in less than five minutes of the call and were quickly able to contain the area. A preliminary investigation led the investigating officers to Dalston Way where the suspect was located.

Brown said the department credits the quick calling of 911 by the victim with the quick apprehension of the suspect.

“The Peachtree City Police Department is committed to protecting persons on our multi-use path system,” said Brown.

As the summer approaches and as use of the multi-use path system increases, the department would like to remind residents of some safety tips when utilizing the city multi-use path system: Travel in pairs, carry a cell phone, wear bright-colored clothing during daytime hours and light-colored clothing at night, keep the volume level on electronics low, do not be distracted by spending a lot of time on cell phones and be aware of suspicious people.
