Benjamin L. Abramowitz will be the featured speaker at the annual Holocaust Remembrance Service (Yom Ha’Shoah) at Congregation B’Nai Israel (CBI) on April 7 at 4 p.m.
Col. Abramowitz (now retired) saw the effects of the Holocaust after World War II and personally witnessed the Nuremberg trials. He has titled his reflections as “The Holocaust Through the Eyes of a 12-Year-Old.”
This is the tenth annual service shared by CBI and Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. Its aim is to remind all of the horrors of the Holocaust to prevent its ever happening again.
Members of both congregations will read brief selections and light candles to remember those who perished. Singers will combine their voices into one choir, and the Christ Our Shepherd Flute Choir will play. Susan Burden, cantor at CBI, will lead appropriate prayers and serve as soloist for “Yeish Kochavim.” Two young men will offer a dramatic dialogue between a German boy and his Jewish friend.
A reception will conclude the afternoon. The public is encouraged to attend. Congregation B’Nai Israel is located on Ga. Hwy. 54,east of Fayetteville, just before Corinth Road and the Clayton County line.
