Fayette Senior Services (FSS) announces its participation in the national 2013 March For Meals campaign.
Special events will include Music For Meals, a night of music and food to benefit Meals On Wheels; and Mayors For Meals, an opportunity for elected officials to deliver meals to homebound seniors with FSS volunteers.
Both events will take place on March 20 at Fayette Senior Services Life Enrichment Center at 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville.
Tickets to the Music For Meals event are $15 and can be purchased at the front desk at either Fayette Senior Services location (203 McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City or 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville). Participants will enjoy the talent of local musicians and a chef-prepared gourmet dinner in the Ultimate Cafe.
“In this tough economy, the food and social contact we provide to seniors in this community is needed more than ever,” said Nancy Meaders, president and CEO of Fayette Senior Services. “We need Fayette County citizens, businesses, and elected officials to come out and support our March For Meals events. Our clients are counting on us; we can’t let them down.”
March For Meals is a national campaign held during the month of March, initiated and sponsored by the Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of local communities.
“Our Meals On Wheels programs are on the front lines every day in the battle against senior hunger,” said MOWAA Interim CEO Larry J. Tomayko. “March for Meals is a time when communities can come together to stand with their local Meals On Wheels program and support our mission to end senior hunger in America by the year 2020.”
In addition to Meals On Wheels, FSS provides other essential services such as transportation, information & assistance, care management, in-home personal care/homemaker services, adult day care, home repair, and ani-meals (pet food delivery for companion pets).
