Both of the Kedron pools will be resurfaced in March at a cost expected to remain under $50,000.

The pool will need to be closed for three weeks to accomplish the project, according to Recreation and Special Events Administrator Cajen Rhodes.

The lowest bidder came in around $42,000 but the remainder of the $50,000 approved last week by council will be used as a contingency in case there are minor issues discovered during the process, Rhodes said. As an example, he said it is possible the skimmer system might need to be replaced.

The pools were last resurfaced in April 2006 and came with a three-year warranty though the surface has lasted until now some seven years later, Rhodes said.

The pools will be closed March 11th with the goal of reopening the Monday of Spring Break, April 1, Rhodes added.

The funds will come from the city’s facilities authority bond.
