A Newnan man and a Sharpsburg woman have been arrested in connection with a Nov. 29 burglary in south Fayette County.
Fayette County Sheriff’s spokesman Josh Shelton said investigators have arrested 20-year-old Amanda McGuffin, of Sharpsburg, and 32-year-old Jonathan York, of Newnan. Both were charged with one count of burglary and one count of robbery, Shelton said.
Shelton said McGuffin and York on Nov. 29 were burglarizing a home in south Fayette County when the homeowner came home and interrupted the crime. The homeowner called 911 but the perpetrators fled before deputies arrived.
And on Dec. 13, 56-year-old Sarah Annette Newton, of Hampton, was arrested and charged with 18 counts of felony theft by deception, Shelton said. The charges stem from an almost three-year pattern of activity where Newton defrauded one victim out of more than $40,000, Shelton added.
