Mr. Claude S. Embrey, of Eatonton, Ga., formerly of Forest Park and Fayetteville, passed away on October 7, 2012 at the age of 69.
Claude was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the man behind the smile that greeted and served so many friends and customers over the years at the Gulf and BP stations that he operated. He was a proud veteran, who placed his career on hold to serve in the United States Army in Vietnam. He was the owner and operator of several “full service” filling stations throughout his career including those on Peachtree Street, Piedmont Road, in Forest Park and finally in Union City. Motor oil may have run through his veins because of his love of Nascar and all things mechanical.
He loved working on cars with his son Jeff and they worked countless hours on hot rods as they restored show cars. His latest award winner was the 1932 Ford Victoria that they restored together. He was also famous for his bar-b-que and brunswick stew. Family and friends from all around looked forward to the creations from his pit.
He is preceded in death by his trusted four legged companion, “P.J.”.
Claude is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda M. Embrey; son Jeff Embrey and his wife Sonya of Concord; granddaughters Whitney and Kinsley Embrey; nephew Jay Embrey and his wife Kay of Stockbridge; niece Claudia Denise Makaike and her husband T. Makaike of McDonough; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Danny Lyles will officiate. Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
