Hopewell UMC welcomes West as director of children’s ministry

Members of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone welcome Ryan West to the church staff. West has an associate degree in science from Alabama’s Southern Union State Community College, a bachelor of arts degree in university studies from the University of Texas, and a master of arts degree in theology from Atlanta’s Columbia Theological Seminary.

West started his ministry as a youth pastor at Huguley UMC in the North Alabama Conference of the UMC In 2004, he accepted an appointment as senior pastor at Florida’s Plant City UMC. He left there in 2006 to help start a nondenominational church, where he established a youth program and wrote two curriculums to educate youth on the foundations of Christianity. In 2010, he left the ministry to attend seminary at Columbia Theological Seminary.

West resides in Newnan with his wife, Nancy, and their three children. He says he welcomes the opportunity to teach and help shape the lives of the children at Hopewell.
