One of the burglars whose getaway car was disabled by a quick-shooting Peachtree City homeowner in March has pled guilty to three counts of burglary.
Tywan Elaine Alexander, 33, of Memorial Drive, Decatur, was sentenced to six years in prison followed by 17 years probation by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Tommy Hankinson
, who tacked on a $350 fine.
In addition to the burglary of the home in the Kedron Hills subdivision that led to the getaway vehicle being shot, Alexander was also charged with burglarizing a home on Regents Square in Peachtree City and a third home on Mann Road in Tyrone, all in the same day. Alexander’s co-defendant in the case, Birdie Milsap, 53, of Stone Mountain, is awaiting trial.
The vehicle driven by Alexander and Milsap ground to a halt in Tyrone thanks to a shot fired by the Peachtree City resident that struck the getaway truck’s radiator, police said.
Prosecutors have filed a notice to seek the maximum sentence against Milsap because she is a repeat offender, according to court documents. Milsap has been to prison seven different times, most recently after being convicted in Fulton County for five counts of credit card theft along with two counts of aggravated assault, according to state records.
Milsap was sentenced to five years in prison and was paroled June 14, 2010, according to information maintained by the Georgia Department of Corrections. Milsap has also been convicted of burglary in Whitfield and DeKalb counties, according to DOC records.
