Voters wishing to cast their ballots ahead of election day, Tuesday, July 31, may do so all this week at three locations in Fayette County.
No matter which precinct or voting district you are normally assigned to, this week, July 23 through July 27, you may show up at any one of the following locations and advance vote between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.:
• The Fayette County Elections Office in Fayetteville, 140 Stonewall Ave. West, Suite 209A, Fayetteville, Ga.
• The Peachtree City Library, 201 Willowbend Road.
• The Tyrone Town Hall, 881 Senoia Road.
You must show a photo ID as usual.
If you wait, you must vote at your assigned precinct on Election Day (July 31). There is no voting anywhere Monday, July 30, according to Elections Supervisor Tom Sawyer.
Because the election is a primary, voters will be able to choose between three different ballots: one for Republican candidates, one for Democratic candidates and one for non-partisan candidates.
In races where there are candidates from both parties, the victors will face each other in the November general election. But in the case of non-partisan races, the winner will be declared following the July 31 election.
In Fayette County, more than 2,000 ballots had been cast as of Thursday afternoon, with another 800 absentee ballots anticipated to be back in time for counting on election day, Sawyer said.

Sawyer noted that with the redistricting changes recently approved by the Georgia Legislature, some districts have changed significantly and voters might be surprised they can no longer vote for a particular candidate they are fond of.
Early voting has been going smooth in Fayette County, Sawyer said, noting that two or three part-time elections employees have been handling the check-in and voting of all those casting ballots in advance.
“So far things are going really well. It’s just been a steady flow,” Sawyer said.
More voter information is also available at the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page at mvp.sos.georgia.gov. On that page, voters can check the status of their voter registration and mail in application and ballots, review sample ballots for the upcoming election, review their elected officials and also check the registration information that is on file with the county office.
To use the MVP site, voters must log in with their first initial, last name, birthday and county of residence.
