Get ready to pay a fine for a false alarm from your security system if you live in Fayetteville.

Starting Monday, July 16, Fayetteville will begin enforcing its false alarm ordinance.

“Alarm users will be billed for false alarm activations which occur on, or after this date,” according to Detective Mike Whitlow of the Fayetteville Police Department. “Alarm users who have not registered their alarms will also be fined if they have an alarm activation and there is no current registration on file for that user.”

Fayetteville false alarms can get expensive. “Failure to register an alarm system is a $100 fine,” Whitlow said. “Fine amounts for false alarm activations start at $50 for a second false alarm activation within a year and increase to as much as $300 for a tenth false alarm activation during the year.”

Register your alarm system online by following these steps:

• Go to this link, https://www.crywolf.us/fayettevillega/.

• Then, go to “New Alarm Users.”

• Enter the required information into the five tabs and then click “Submit Online Form.”

• Once the registration is submitted your completed registration form will appear on the screen and you have successfully registered your alarm system.

Or, you may go to the Fayetteville Police Department Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and complete a registration form.

If you have any questions, call the Fayetteville False Alarm Reduction Program at 855-694-8279, Whitlow said.
