On June 27, 2012 Captain Steve Coker of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was awarded the President’s Award from the Georgia Jail Association (GJA).
This award is presented to a person viewed as giving the greatest contribution towards the enhancement of jails in the state of georgia. This award was presented during this year’s GJA annual training conference, held in Young Harris, Ga.
Captain Melinda Allen (GJA President) stated during the presentment that Capt. Coker’s continued work with the Georgia Jail Association, to include planning and scheduling of both the conference and trade shows have greatly assisted in achieving association objectives.
This is the second time Captain Coker has received this award, having been the recipient in 2008.
