Colonel (Retired) Ed Strong, a Peachtree City resident, was inducted into the US Army Adjutant General’s Corps (AGC) Regimental Hall of Fame in a ceremony conducted at Fort Jackson, SC on June 1.
The AGC Regimental Hall of Fame recognizes soldiers who have made positive, lasting and significant contributions to the US Army’s military human resource management and soldier support programs.
Colonel Strong joined the Army in 1953 and served more than 46 years; first as an enlisted man; then as a commissioned officer; and finally as a Department of the Army Civilian.
He graduated from the Infantry Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA in 1959 and was commissioned as a 2d Lieutenant. He served four years in the infantry before transferring to the AGC.
In1986 he was also inducted into the Infantry OCS Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, GA in recognition of his service to the infantry and to the US Army at large.
Colonel Strong’s military awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Bronze Star. He is also qualified as a senior parachutist and is a graduate of the Army’s Ranger School.
