Brad Jubin will be the guest speaker at Sunday worship on May 13 at 8:30 and 10:50 a.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. This spring Jubin climbed the tallest peak in the world outside the Himalayas, Aconcagua in Argentina, to raise funds for the Hudson Family Foundation. This foundation, headed by Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson, benefits children in need.
At the 19,500-feet point in the climb one in the party became seriously ill. The group had to descend 1500 feet so the man could be rescued. The climber survived, and the rest of the party was able to reach the summit after a 14-hours-in-one-day ascent. Jubin’ says his faith played a significant role in his deciding to make the climb, in his preparing for it, and in his succeeding in reaching his goal.
