Jan. 23, 1921 – April 3, 2012, Reba was born in Hayesville, N.C. to Robert Lee and Minnie Lee Ledford.
The Ledfords raised eight children: Ronda, Ralph, Reba, Rena, Robert, Reuben, Robenia, and Ray.
Reba’s life work was as a homemaker, but in her early career she worked for Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, Tenn. in the lab on the Manhattan Project. That is where she met and later married Wade Rigsbee on March 30, 1948.
Wade and Reba moved to Titusville, Fla. in 1964 eventually settling in Mims where they lived together until Wade passed away in 1995.
Reba moved to Peachtree City, Ga. in 2010 to live with (daughter) Jennifer and Bic Vogel.
In her lifetime, Reba was blessed with a total of 7 children, 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Minnie Ledford; husband, Wade Rigsbee; brothers, Ronda, Ralph, Ray, and Robert; sisters, Robbie and Rena; son, Shirley Wayne; and grandson, Rodney Rigsbee.
Surviving Reba are her brother Reuben Ledford, sister; Robenia Merrit; daughter-in-law, Agnes Rigsbee; daughter Peggy and son-in-law Mike Good; daughter Dorothy and son-in-law Norvell Hunsucker, son, Bobby and daughter-in-law Gabrielle Rigsbee; daughter Joyce and son-in-law Bryan Bruneau; daughter Janice and son-in-law Carl Hughes; daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Bic Vogel; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial service was held at Sharp Funeral home in Oliver Springs, Tenn. on Sat., April 7 at 7 p.m. Reverend James Jones officiated. Graveside farewell will be Wed., April 11 at 11 a.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville, Fla. where Reba will be laid to rest beside her late husband, Wade.
