Mr. and Mrs. George Pope of Fayetteville are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Hannah Elizabeth, to John Samuel Beck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Beck, also of Fayetteville.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George M. Pope, of Clinton, N.C. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis G. Barrett of Sanford, N.C. She is a graduate of Fayette County High School and The University of Georgia. She is currently a kindergarten teacher in Jackson County.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Beck and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Weldon, all of Hapeville.

He is a graduate of Fayette County High School, The University of Georgia, and The University of South Carolina School of Law. He is an associate at Slepian, Schwartz and Landgaard in Peachtree City.

A May wedding is planned in Athens.
