Members of Lisbon Baptist Church announce that they have called a new pastor for the church. Danny Wilson, of Newnan accepted the position effective Feb. 19.
Wilson formerly served at Unity Baptist Church in Newnan.
He and his wife Lynn have two sons, Brian Wilson and his son Zach, a senior at Georgia Southern University, and Cliff Wilson, his wife Lauri and their children Max, and Amelia, all of Newnan.
Wilson began his career with Delta Air Lines and after one year began a 26-year career with Playtex Corporation. During his employment with Playtex, he says he answered God’s call to the ministry and began preaching part-time in different churches.
“It wasn’t long before it became obvious God was calling me into full-time ministry to preach the Word of God,” Wilson said. He left Playtex to accept a position as pastor and has been in this capacity for more than 18 years.
“My passion is to preach the pure Word of God,” Wilson said. “It changes people and it changes churches. The Bible is the center of my ministry. I love people and especially enjoy watching God work in their lives.”
Members of Lisbon Baptist Church say they are excited about Wilson’s decision to accept the church pastorate.
“Everyone is invited to join us in welcoming him to the community as the church moves forward to share the love of Christ and increase God’s kingdom,” a spokesperson said.
