A youth soccer coach will ring in the New Year with a big smile on his face, especially since winning a large Georgia Lottery prize. Jerry Moore of Peachtree City won $100,000 playing the instant game Georgia Lottery Black.
Moore purchased his ticket over the Christmas holiday weekend and claimed his prize Tuesday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in downtown Atlanta.
He and his wife, Christy, were grocery shopping when the couple purchased the lucky ticket from an instant ticket vending machine inside of the store.
Kroger #0422, 1101 Peachtree Parkway N. in Peachtree City, sold the lucky ticket.
“We couldn’t believe our eyes,” he said. “My wife said that I had this crazed look on my face.”
Moore, 42, runs a soccer club where he is the youth soccer coach. He is a stepfather of three.
At the moment he has no plans for his windfall.
Georgia Lottery Black is a $10 instant ticket loaded with cash prizes of up to $1 million.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
