It did not take State Sen. Mike Crane (R-Newnan) to start getting involved in the action under the Gold Dome. The new Dist. 28 Senator on Dec. 19 was named secretary of the Senate Banking Committee for the 2011-2012 term by the Senate Committee on Assignments.

Crane will also serve on the Senate Education Committee and the Senate Economic Development Committee. He will also hold a vote on the Senate Finance Committee.

“I am eagerly anticipating the start of the 2012 Georgia Legislative Session and am looking forward to working on behalf of my constituents to find common sense solutions for our state. It is an honor to serve on these committees,” said Crane.

Sen. Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) said Crane brings a wealth of private sector business success to the State Senate, adding that he will immediately become a major contributor in the efforts to make Georgia the most business friendly and prosperous state in the nation.

The 153rd Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly will convene on Jan. 9.
